Gorillaz to collaborate with David Bowie?

Band's founding member teases fans with artwork of the Blackstar artist on Instagram

With a highly-anticipated Gorillaz album expected sometime in 2016, fans of the 'Clint Eastwood' band have been able to see new artwork for each member on Jamie Hewlett's Instagram. But over the weekend, the band's co-founder also showed off artwork for another artist: none other than the Thin White Duke himself, David Bowie:

Bowie's much-hyped Blackstar album is due out January 8, 2016, but this latest teaser suggests that he may be also be appearing on the long-overdue Gorillaz full-length record, also set for release next year.

The Gorillaz previously featured Bowie's Hunky Dory LP on their own Plastic Beach album. Bowie’s official website commented on the mention at the time, and advised the band to contact him directly next time. So can we get excited that Hewlett and Damon Albarn have asked Bowie to collaborate on their new album? We can only hope.

The Gorillaz and Blur singer Damon Albarn previously collaborated with David Bowie on French TV back in 2003. See the pair perform 'Fashion' below:
