Jared Leto is a very busy man. One minute he’s the world’s most in-demand actor – gearing up for the daunting role as The Joker in next summer’s hotly anticipated blockbuster, Suicide Squad. Next thing you know, he’s in the studio with his globe-trotting rock group 30 Seconds To Mars. But when Leto had a little time to spare with his bandmates, he decided to turn to Taylor Swift for inspiration – and the results are brilliant.
In a video obtained by TMZ, Leto listens to Swift’s latest record 1989 for the first time. It’s clearly a mixed reaction from the frontman and Fight Club actor as he critiques hit singles ‘Welcome to New York’, ‘Blank Space’, and ‘Style’ from the band’s LA studio.
Watch the video below:
The clip shows Leto accusing Tay of ripping off Sia and Charli XCX and he even makes the age old mistake of mishearing “Starbucks lovers” on the Grammy-nominated ‘Blank Space’. However, Leto ultimately concedes that the song is so good he “wants to steal” it from the pop singer.
But it turns out the listening party wasn’t such a fruitful experience for the 'Up In The Air' band, with Leto concluding the video clip by taking a swipe at Swift. “Fuck her. I don’t give a fuck about her, it’s what’s best for us,” he exclaims.
That probably rules out a cover of ‘Shake It Off’ on the next 30 Seconds To Mars tour, then.
