Kanye West has cancelled 23 dates schedule as part of his USA tour, a couple of days after abandoning a gig in Sacramento following a bizarre 17 minute rant.
The star, who has completed 30 of the shows, had performed just three songs on Saturday night, before laying into Facebook, Jay Z, Beyonce, and Hillary Clinton, and saying he'd vote for Trump.
It was the Trump comment that invitably riled a lot of people and he was heavily booed.
“I told y’all I didn’t vote, right?” said Kanye. “But if I would have voted, I would have voted for Trump.
He added: “That don’t mean that I don’t think that black lives matter,” he said. “That don’t mean that I don’t believe in women’s rights. That don’t mean that I don’t mean in gay marriage. That don’t mean that I don’t believe in these things because that’s the guy that I wanted to vote for.”
“Not one or the other candidate was going to instantly be able to change [racism] because of their views,” he said at the end of the show after telling fans: “Stop focusing on racism. This world is racist, okay? Lets stop being distracted to focus on that as much. It’s just a fucking fact. We are in a racist country. Period.”
"Sometimes we be playing the politics too much and forget who we are just to win,” he continued. “I’ve been sitting here to give y’all my truth even at the risk of my own life — even at the risk of my own success, my own career.”
Yesterday Kanye began posting emotional responses on Facebook after being cast out for his support of right-wing anti-immigration President-elect Trump.
"Stay strong, be positive, we all struggle sometimes." People will hate you, rate you, shake you, and break you. But how strong you stand is what makes you." Many fans proceeded to comment critisicing him for voicing support for Trump.
The official reason for the cancellation is yet to be heard, but it seems Kanye needs some time out of the spotlight after this backlash.
