Forbes release the highest paid musicians list of 2015

Cash rules everything around me - who has turned out the richest of the rich?

Forbes have released their listings for the highest paid musicians of 2015 with Katy Perry sitting at the tippity top with a modest earning of $135 million in her net worth. Other names in the top 10 include One Direction, Garth Brooks, The Eagles, Calvin Harris, Diddy and Taylor Swift.

Collectively, these musicians could solve world hunger and have enough cash to spare to probably still get the same amount of attention for Forbes. It's worth noting that these figures represent earnings not net worth - if you want to know the technicals, we don't know, read a book.

Katy Perry has managed to jump 22 positions since last year with her 17 month 'Prismatic World Tour' - imagine trying to exchange 130 million of foreign currency at Thomas Cook, it just isn't going to happen.

In a turn out for the books, Dr Dre dropped has slipped from the number one slot in 2014 to a disgraceful 28 this year. Despite the release of a record a decade in the making and a commercially smashing blockbuster, art money isn't worth as much as headphone money. Dre sold his Beats brand to Apple for an even $3 billion last year.

There's probably a lot to analyse here and not enough time to do it. So, check out the highest paid of musicians below. The asterisks correspond to any tied ranking:

1 Katy Perry $135m
2 One Direction $130m
3 Garth Brooks $90m

We recently had an in-depth look into the collective earnings of pop's favourite power-couple, Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift. We examined the extent to which we could stretch their collective bank accounts into the relams of moon real estate, scientology and the crooked lottery system.
