The world has been dealt yet another crushing blow with news of the loss of one of the most loved actress' in the world, Carrier Fisher. She was best known for her role as Princess Leia.
Fisher, who was once married to Paul Simon, died today (27 December) aged 60. The actress had a heart attack last week on a Los Angeles flight 15 minutes prior to landing and spent Christmas in intesive care.
"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning," Simon Halls, a spokesperson for Fisher's family, said in a statement to People.
The sad news comes as Fisher was in the midst of a busy period with her acting. She played Princess Leia in last year’s The Force Awakens, Fisher has completed her scene for the forthcoming and as-yet-untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII.
Her part as Princess Leia in Star Wars catapulted her as one of the most famous faces on the planet. Her other film roles include: Shampoo (1975), The Blues Brothers (1980), Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), The 'Burbs (1989), and When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Austin Powers (1997)
