Sundara Karma have finally revealed the visuals for their single 'Flame', which frontman Oscar Pollock explains is inspired by Plato’s Allegory Of The Cave.
This story presents a prisoner facing a wall of shadows, created by a fire behind him, forcing the prisoner to believe the shadows are real. It’s only when he’s released from the cave that he sees the sunlit world. Oscar Pollock says, “Ever since I heard that story I thought it was crazy, especially how old and relevant it still is.”
Speaking about it inspiring the video, he goes on to say, “Michael (the director) and I fell in love. We wanted to make something to resemble our relationship, something that would be eternal. At times it felt like the whole world was against us."
The video sees frontman Oscar take a minimalistic approach. The monochrome setting sees him alone in a warehouse, building his energy into a dance that sees him walk away, and return to frame completely ignited in flames, setting the final chorus of the band’s track alight.
Sundara Karma’s debut album Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect is out January 6 2017.
February sees the group embark across the UK on tour with Two Door Cinema Club, as well as a headline tour straight after.THey've certainly come a long way in the year that's passed since they came by the Gigwise office for a session.
