The Killers will be the first band to play Las Vegas’s arena when they take their tour (and hopefully some new songs from a fresh album) to the new venue next Spring.

The Killers will return to their hometown of Las Vegas to christen the new 20,000 capacity MGM arena on 6 April with special guests Waynes Newton and Shamir.Tickets will go on sale at 10am on 12 December.

Owned by AEG and MGM Resorts, £253 million indoor venue is west of the Las Vegas Strip, between the New York-New York Hotel and the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. The arena is reportedly going to be hosting over 100 events a year.

With the band apparently in "the early stages" of writing material for a new album in 2016, hopefully they'll be showcasing some new songs sooner rather than later. The Killers released their Christmas single 'Dirt Sledding' at the beginning of the week to raise money for the Red Campaign.

Brandon Flowers recently performed at New York's Madison Square Gardens with a swarm of other acts in celebration of John Lennon's 75th anniversary.
