In news that is sure to send shockwaves throughout the world, Darude has confessed that he's never actually even been in a sandstorm...
The Finnish DJ found worldwide acclaim at the turn of the century when his trance banger 'Sandstorm' topped the charts around the world, receiving heavy airplay before going on to be used to soundtrack countless adverts, TV shows, games, movies and more. Sadly, it was all based on lies and deceit.
Darude, real name Ville Virtanen, was taking part in Reddit AMA session when one fan asked if he'd ever experienced the meteorological phenomenon.
“No,” he confessed, “but [I have been in] a smaller one, dust devil, or whatever you want to call it..."
Seeking to soften the blow of his fraud, he continued: “AND, I've got a picture from a few years back, when I was landing in Arizona I believe it was, where I literally landed like few minutes a sandstorm blew thru the airport area and you can see the edge on the pic. I tweeted something like "I've arrived" with the pic! :)”
We just don't know what to think any more...Life will never be the same.
