AC/DC are responsible for the most incendiary hits in rock and roll history, boasting a setlist comprising of monster riffs like ‘Thunderstruck’ and ‘Back In Black’. Having just announced UK and European tour dates for next June, could the Ozzie rockers now be set for their debut appearance at Glastonbury Festival?
Heading on a tour of Europe in 2016, the Brian Johnson-fronted rockers will play two UK dates in June – at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium in London.Upon further inspection, the band’s touring schedule leaves a glaring Glasto shaped void. But could it actually happen?
For a band with such pedigree, it’s baffling that AC/DC have never played at the Worthy Farm bash. But this doesn’t mean they’re strangers to the lofty heights of headlining some of the biggest festivals worldwide. In fact, just last year they headlined the mighty Coachella Festival to rave reviews.
Glastonbury, which takes place between 22-26 June 2016, famously flirted with the heavier side of rock music when Metallica headlined the event in 2014. Overcoming initial controversy, the ‘Enter Sandman’ behemoths silenced critics with an epic performance – which seemingly opened the door for bands of a similar ilk to grace the iconic Pyramid stage. Now it could, and really should, be AC/DC’s turn. All will be revealed in time.
