Following the death of musician, actress and Blind Date presenter Cilla Black earlier this year, a life-size statue of her is set to be unveiled in her hometown of Liverpool.

Black, who rose to fame as a singer, with singles such as 'Anyone Who Had A Heart' and the theme song for Alfie, was best known amongst younger generations as the presenter of Saturday night TV shows Blind Date and Surprise Surprise.

As such, she was considered something of a national treasure, and her death back in August prompted an outpouring of tributes. Black died from a stroke after falling and hitting her head in her Spanish villa.

Now, as The Liverpool Echo reports, a bronze statue of Black is set to be erected in her honour. An early design by sculptor Laura Lian sees Black standing smiling next to a jukebox.

The town's mayor, Joe Anderson, has insisted that any final decision will be in the hands of Black's family.
