Years & Years have performed a mashup of Katy Perry’s 'Dark Horses' and Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’, making their own, ‘Dark Horse Bling’ version.
Katy Perry and Drake may produce different music styles, but Years & Years have formed an unlikely communion between the two. With the trio’s harmoniously balanced vocals, gentle keyboard chords, simple beat and blanketed strings, their mash up cover certainly shines through as an instant Live Lounge classic.
'Hotline Bling' and 'Dark Horse' were never presented as serious songs. Both harnessed a playful tone with lighthearted lyrics. However, Years & Years have transformed both tracks into an almost sombre sounding mashup. There's no hint of the original joyful nature of the originals and its result is somewhat beautiful.
