Nick Alexander, the Eagles Of Death Metal merchandise seller who was killed in the Paris terror attacks last year, has won a posthumous award.

Alexander was the first Briton confirmed dead in November's attacks, when terrorists stormed Paris gig venue The Bataclan during an Eagles Of Death Metal gig, and shot dead over 100 people.

The 36-year-old from Colchester in Essex was selling merch for the band, and had also toured with The Black Keys, Sum 41 and Fall Out Boy.

Over the weekend, Alexander was awarded the title of Merchandiser of The Year in the Tourlink Top Dog Awards. The awards, which are held in Palm Springs, California, recognise the touring industry's top 50 individuals and companies of the year, as voted by their peers.

As the Clacton Gazette reports, Alexander's sister Zoe accepted the award on his behalf. "It is an honour, although a bittersweet one, to receive this award on Nick's behalf," she told the audience. "He loved being away on tour and took great pride in his work, so to be recognised and celebrated by his music industry friends and peers in this way means a huge amount."

A GoFundMe page created in Alexander's honour raised just over $100,000, and his family are setting up a charitable trust in his name.
