An anti-EU campaign group’s show that was organised in Birmingham’s Genting Arena on 8 May has been thrown into fresh turmoil after Sigma have announced that they are pulling out of their headline slot.
Following on from the headliners pulling out, other artists that are taking part have supposedly distanced themselves from the event.
The show which is working under the name, Bpoplive, is an event organised by Leave.EU and is set to happen just before the referendum. Along with artists such as, Electric Swing Circus, DJ Luck and MC Neat, politicians, and leading personalities in support of the “Leave EU” campaign.
A spokesperson for Sigma has said that the act, “are in no way supporting the event”. But this isn’t the first time that acts have denied any affiliations with the event. Politically speaking, Tom Hyland of Electric Swing Circus has said his band, "are not pro-Brexit" whilst also admitting that "as a group... are generally pro EU".
A press representative for DJ Luck and MC Neat has also said that they were unaware that the event was in support of Leaving the EU, stating the band “didn’t even know it was about that to be honest".
Reports also claim that Bpoplive have advertised that Ella Eyre was to perform but her spokesperson said that, “she isn’t playing and never confirmed.” Whilst rumours that Pixie Lott was to play, have also been denied by her publicist.
