Former Peggy Sue member Benedict Benjamin has released 'My Feet Have No Need For The Ground' from his debut solo album, Night Songs. Watch the video exclusively on Gigwise below.

Considering the Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes-esque sound you hear, you might expect to see him create a countryside scene for a music video, to suit his folky and 60s pop influences. Instead, you'll find Benedict in a grey suit on the Overground, or at  a Shell Garage, a shopping centre, or in Sainsbury's in this whimsical video.

Benjamin might have his tongue firmly in his cheek in this video, but the music itself, he takes very seriously indeed. His delicate, introspective lyrics, combined with the best melodies of nu-folk this side of the Atlantic, make Benjamin one to watch in 2016.

Speaking about the process of writing his debut album, Benjamin said:  "At the end of my twenties I was in two bands that were breaking up, working night shifts at two jobs and going through a bad time with the girl I love. I was exhausted but my body had given up on sleep and every night I’d lie awake for what seemed like forever watching the light brighten into morning. I hadn’t written a song for a while but then in the middle of one of those nights something resolved itself and I started writing and kept on writing for a whole month.”

Benedict Benjamin's debut album, Night Songs, is released on 25 March 2016 via Sugarcoat Records. It was recorded in a series of churches, bedrooms and kitchens across London and Kent.
