Ellie Goulding has criticised the Metro for falsely reporting that she uses an IV drip instead of eating, saying, "I can usually laugh off misquotes but this is a genuinely dangerous one."
In an interview with Red magazine, after disputing her 'fitness freak' reputation by listing the amount of junk food she'd eaten that week, and expressing her hatred for juicing, Goulding said, "The band and I are all dead. I had to pay for everyone to have IV vitamin drips. Can you believe it?"
The Metro then reported (though it seems to have since been deleted) that the singer uses IV drips instead of eating - in a move that Goulding has labelled "genuinely dangerous and irresponsible."
This has been brought to my attention today. An intentionally misleading "quote", extremely irresponsible of them. pic.twitter.com/c7cXU0YPob

Misleading people into thinking I replace meals with an IV drip is the most absurd thing I've dealt with thus far

Actually I detest IV drips and only ever had one once years ago at the point of extreme exhaustion, and couldn't even complete it.

I can usually laugh off misquotes and ignore but this is a genuinely dangerous and irresponsible one.

Instead of issuing an apology, @MetroUK has reinforced its false story on me by printing this pic.twitter.com/qEJWohr3yx

Sophie Heawood, who wrote the Red article, tweeted, "Very upset to see Metro eke such nonsense out of my forthcoming @elligoulding interview for Red mag[...] In my piece, Ellie says is so busy it’s hard to stop for lunch, but she also talks about scoffing Nandos, the great juicing rip-off, and how she ONCE got an IV vitamin drip for her knackered band members. Which all sounded quite funny. Somehow this has turned into Metro declaring that @elliegoulding uses an IV drip instead of eating. Very helpful work there lads. Amazing x"
Ellie Goulding released her third album, Delirium, last year.
