Kanye West has stated Twitter that he will no longer release his albums on CD, and that he will only stream his music from now on.

The rapper’s latest album, The Life Of Pablo, which was released a month ago, still remains exclusively on TIDAL.

He explained on twitter that the album packaging for his previous album, Yeezus, was an “open casket to CDs” and that from this point forward he will only release his music via streaming.

Kanye’s astute criticism on the dying format is of course not without merit. In the first half of 2015, the BBC reported that CD sales in the US dropped by 31.5%. Streaming revenue conversely grew upwards of 25% last year and accounts for more total earnings than any physical release format.

In other news, the rapper recently defended his use of Pirate Bay after a picture showing him using the torrent site sparked a Twitter feud with producer Deadmau5.

Additionally, there have been reports of Bjork and Drake collaborating on an alternative version of West’s ‘Wolves’, which appeared on TLOP.
