Laura Marling performed a brand new song, ‘Wildfire’, at a Sao Paolo gig last month. Listen to it below.
It’s been a little over a year now since the release of Marling’s brilliant fifth album, Short Movie, and it seems she’s already working towards the release of its follow-up. The new album is rumoured to be called Semper Femina - a Latin fragment of the phrase ‘varium et mutabile semper femina’ - which roughly translates to Always A Woman.
‘Wildfire’ - a sprawling ballad which retains a little of the Dylan-esque lilt she’s developed over the past few years, while leaping into falsetto at a moment’s notice - includes the lyrics, "She keeps a pen behind her hair because she’s got something / She really, really needs to say / She puts it in a notepad / She’s gonna write a book someday / Of course the only part that I want to read / Is about her time spent with me.”
Marling is set to support Neil Young on his UK tour dates next month. See full tour dates below and get tickets and more information here.
