It’s a long running gag that Nickelback are one of the worst things that have ever happened to music. But, Avril Lavigne took to Twitter to defend the band's reputation, because well, it's Avril Lavigne.
In what is one of the biggest uphill battles in music imaginable, Avril Lavigne decided that enough was enough after a recent poll revealed that people only marginally preferred Nickelback's music to Donald Trump.
Here's her rather cringey tirade in full:

In what is pretty much a 'dude, spread love not hate' rant Avril Lavigne is certainly not in an enviable position. But, since when did good sales equal a band actually being good. We're pretty sure its never been a direct correlation - take the Crazy Frog, Justin Bieber or the bizarre persistence of Pitbull for instance.
Perhaps Avril Lavigne should listen to the perfect description of Nickelback, and their fans - which obviously includes herself. She might get quite mad.
