Shura has unveiled the video for her new single, and contender for song of the summer, ‘What’s It Gonna Be’. Watch it below.

The singer recently remixed Tegan & Sara - a band she once queued for hours to meet - and her wistful, sun-drenched new single wouldn’t sound out of place on their latest album.

The accompanying video, inspired by the aesthetic of Breakfast Club director John Hughes, puts a playful, heartwarming spin on the ‘80s high school movie trope - and sees Shura star alongside her twin brother Nick. “‘What's It Gonna Be?' is about having a massive crush on someone,” said Shura, “so it made sense to go back where to school, where it all began.

“But it was important for us to explore those archetypal characters - The Jock, The Nerd, The Dork, The Popular Kid - and then flip expectations. 'What's It Gonna Be?' is based on my personal experience as a kid; thinking you're in love but then realising that's maybe just because you feel you should be (and ending up with someone totally unexpected).”

Put this on repeat every day all summer. You’re welcome.

Shura plays at KOKO tonight (1 June). Get tickets and more information here.
