It looks like that much-anticipated Spice Girls reunion is almost definitely happening - but with only three of the five original members.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the pop group’s debut single, ‘Wannabe’, and rumours have swirled for many months now over how they plan to celebrate. Victoria Beckham politely ruled herself out of proceedings fairly early on.
Now though, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner (formerly Halliwell) and Mel B have appeared together in a video teasing a reunion under the name GEM.
“We’ve been thinking,” they say in the video. “We have the best fans in the whole entire world. You’ve stood by us for 20 years, and we want to say a big thank you. We’ve had our ups and downs but you’ve always been there and we want to celebrate and have a party, and when we do you’re all invited.”
Then the following message appears on the screen: “Happy 20th birthday to all our fans. This is a celebration for you! We hope to tell you soon what you want, what you really really want.”
Fingers crossed.
