Robbie Williams is set to add yet another accolade to his already brimming collection.

Having already won the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at the Brits in 2009. The organisers of The Brits have said that Williams deserves the award for gaining "a special place", in the hearts of the UK's music lovers. This comes as no surprise, of course, as the organisers noted he has an "enduring appeal" and an "exceptional track record of hit singles".

BRIT awards boss, Geoff Taylor, said: "He is one of our greatest ambassadors and we are proud to recognise his exceptional talents with our highest accolade - A BRITs Icon Award, we look forward to celebrating his achievements with a spectacular show on ITV."

In true Robbie Williams style, he intends to celebrate his achievement by playing a greatest hits show at The Troxy in London on 7 November. It will be aired a month later.

Williams told Music Week: "It's a real honour for me to be given this award and I can't wait to play songs from my new album, and from my catalogue, at Troxy," he continued, "The BRIT Awards are very special to me, and I'm humbled to be receiving the 18th of my career next month."

Tickets to Williams' show at The Troxy will be on sale from Monday 10 October.
