Electric Picnic has unveiled the line up to its Global Green Eco Village. The area, run by permaculture collective Cultivate, has activists, artists, musicians, foodies, gardeners, social entrepreneurs, and slam poets on its varied and exciting programme.
Acting as a peaceful backwater compared to the intense onslaught of the main stage areas, which this year features New Order and LCD Soundsystem, it's an important elements of the festivals identity, giving it an edge over more corporate oriented events.
The Village Hall has a line up that echoes the green filds area of Glastonbury with electro, acoustic, and folk music by day and dance, jazz, and rocksteady by night. Highlights there include Wastefellow, Jem Mitchell, and Witch Trials.
Also on at the Village Hall is the environmental activist film, Atlantic, which is about the catastrophe oil companies have done to traditional fishing communities. There will be a Q and A with director Richie O'Donnell. Moreover, the voices rising spoken word session will feature Cormac Lally, activist rapper Temper-Menal MissElayneous - among others.
The food at this part of the festival is more special that your run-of-the-mill burger joint, too. Organised by The Outsiders' Food Project, it's award winning ecologically aware fare - all sourced from within a 50-mile radius of the festival.
The Convergence Tent, meanwhile, features an array of talks, discussions, spoken word and music performances. Its ethos lies in how we can make the transition to a fair and fossil free future with some of Ireland's leading NGOs and activists doing talks.
There's also yoga, a community garden which showcases innovative renewable energy methods, and great coffee. What's not to be loved?
