The Norwegian born and Copenhagen based duo, Smerz, just put out a new song on Soundcloud today called 'Blessed' and it's the most essential new track today. You can listen to it on Gigwise below.
They produce beats that have a restless energy perfect for late night clubbing. But their clever use of reverb and the subtely in the way they sing gives it a dreamy quality that makes it sweetly introverted and seductive rather than brash and pop.
Having seen them live in Roskidle Festival 2016, it's safe to say they have a feverish following over there. Their set on the Danish new band stage put on by the Escho label (Liss, Ice Age) and the Myahem venue saw the young Copenhagen fans giving everything they've got on the dancefloor. They immediately seems like a force who could translate well over in the UK.
Nis, the Escho label owner, told Gigwise back then he was looking forward to putting out their EP and it's finally been announced that he's putting it out in Denmark on 14 October. Also Hard Up Records which is a bit of satirical remark on the state of the recording industry will put it out in the UK on the same day.
'Blessed' is the first track to be taken from it and on evidence of this it's going to be a smash. The full EP tracklisting is below.
