Audioslave have reunited to perform their first gig in 12 years – in protest against Donald Trump at the Anti-Inaugural Ball.
The wonderful supergroup featuring Chris Cornell and everyone from RATM apart from Zach couldn't have found a better excuse to get the show back on the road. Nothing aligns better to their politics than to protest against Trump - after all their bassist recently compared him to Hitler.
Rage and all of their other bands are widely known to rile against the establishment with a focus on the subordinated individuals crushed by crippling economic policies and war. Their assessment of US politics remains a vital reminder of the tyranny occurring at the highest echelons of power.
The show is called the Anti-Inaigural ball and will happen on the day Trump takes office (20 January). It's held at Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles and is hosted by Prophets of Rage, the supergroup of RATM, Public Enemy‘s Chuck D along with B-Real and DJ Lord.
The gig’s slogan is ‘power to the people’
Life as a Rage Against The Machine member, according to their bassist Commerford results in a heavy police following. Expect an army of security at this gig as they try to tame protests and feelings of disenchantment with the government.
Audioslave broke up in 2007 after three albums – their acclaimed self-titled debut, Out Of Exile, and Revelations. The band made headlines by performing a huge gig in Cuba to over 70,000 people in 2005.
They were one of the greatest touring bands of the noughties and their return has brought about a flurry of responses on the internet with fans absolutely thrilled to have them back. Hoeever, as politics has the tendency to do, fans have become divided and got at each others throats from the comfort of their arm chair.
