Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has sparked more excitement for the 2017 event by announcing that special plans are in the works to mark The Park’s tenth year at Worthy Farm.
Taking to her Instagram account, Eavis revealed that “exciting surprises” are in store as the area – which she curated back in 2007 - reaches its decade milestone. The news was posted as a caption to an image of her father and festival creator Michael Eavis opening the Park Stage.
With its breathtaking hilltop views across the whole festival site, treetop café, sand sculptures and the now-iconic ribbon tower – The Park has found its own special place away from the hustle of the main stages and become a favourite spot for many festival goers.
Although associated with smaller and alternative acts, the Park Stage has also played host to some impressive secret sets over the years - including Thom Yorke, Pulp, Radiohead and Biffy Clyro. Pulling out all the stops in terms of its late night entertainment, the area has seen the likes of Jarvis Cocker and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler play DJ sets in recent years.
We can’t wait to see what magic unfolds on this celebratory year – you won’t want to miss out!
Meanwhile, Glastonbury have already announced Radiohead as the Friday night headliners, with the news breaking via a crop circle version of the band’s logo appearing in front of the Pyramid Stage last week. Lady Gaga has also added to the rumour mill by hinting at an appearance on the bill.
Tickets for next summer’s festival sold out in just 50 minutes earlier this month.
Glastonbury Festival will take place at Worthy Farm from 21st-25th June.
