Anthemic psych gaze of the highest order

Barnsley psych gaze sorts Heavy Suns have unveiled their anthemic new single, 'Hide'. Check it out first on Gigwise below.

Their brilliant sound recalls the likes of cult favourites Exit Calm, and Pusher - who are also from Barnsley. The fuzzy riffs, psych atmospheres, and motorik beats combine it with a good feel for melody and songcraft. This pop edge shows parallels to early Verve, who were exploring similar genres early in their career, whilst creating tunes that made you want to reach for the sky.

Of the band's history, lead vocalist and guitarist Travis Glen Eaton. says: “Being born and raised in a town like Barnsley you always have some sort of awareness of anybody around you that is involved in music and I think that was the case with the five of us. Travis, Tom and Luke all being in different bands at the same time around 2009. Callan later joining Travis's band and Ross working as a local gig promoter & DJ.”

Like what you're hearing? Catch them on their tour.
