Amercian rock legend Billy Idol has announced that he will be releasing a special piece of work for this years ‘Record Store Day’.
The annual event will take place on November 25th, which is the date for the infamous ‘Black Friday’ day when shoppers are renowned to hit the streets and net for Christmas bargains.
Entitled ‘BFI Live’ this will be a three LP set by Idol that features 16 tracks that were recorded during the singer-songwriters 2014-2015 tour.
That tour was to promote his seventh album ‘Kings and Queens of the Underground’. Each package will be individually numbered and will be made available at participating independent records stores.
The songs on offer are of course tracks from the live tour and its album, but there are retro songs such as ‘Rebel Yell’, ‘White Wedding’ and ‘Dancin With Myself’ included as well. There is also a cover of The Doors ‘L.A. Woman’ thrown in for good measure too.
Aside from this Record Store Day release Billy Idol has said that he will make limited editions sets of ‘BFI Live’ availabe via his official website from December 9th too.
‘Record Store Day’ is an inventive initiative that has allowed independent record shops to gain publicty and see them remain on the high street.
