The Weeknd has been confirmed as the latest headliner for Denmark's Roskilde Festival, joining Arcade Fire and Foo Fighters at Northern Europe's biggest festival.

The announcement comes just two weeks after his album Starboy went straight to number 1 on the Billboard album chart and fans can expect to hear the likes of 'Starboy' and 'False Alarm' when he visits Denmark next summer.

He's not shy of Scandinavia either as Swedish producer Max Martin and Norwegian DJ Cashmere Cat - also playing Roskilde Festival 2017 - are among the producers on Starboy.

Head of Programme Anders Wahrén said: "We have been following The Weeknd since the beginning, and it's no secret that he's been topping the wishlists of our fans for the past couple of years. Being one of the biggest pop artists in the world right now, this is a very special artist."

His appearance will be his first at a Danish festival. His first show in Denmark, scheduled in February, sold out in minutes so fans will be delighted by this billing.

The Weeknd will embark on a mammoth tour around Europe, America and Canada next year, starting at Stockholm in Sweden on February 17.

175 acts will play Roskilde Festival over eight days next year including Blink-182, Justice, Solange, Moderat/Modeselektor and G-Eazy who join the three headliners.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, New Order and LCD Soundsystem played the epic 130,000 capacity festival last year and we went along to check out the stunning festival.

The Weeknd will play the 130,000 capacity festival on Wednesday 28 June.

Tickets for the festival are £225 for a full festival ticket or £112 for a one-day ticket and you can check ticket information here
