Catfish and the Bottlemen, Zara Larsson and Clean Bandit are the biggest names among the latest acts added tothe Isle of Wight festival 2017 line-up.
This year’s bill is nothing if not eclectic. Arcade Fire, David Guetta, Run DMC and Rod Stewart make for an unlikely set of headliners while the undercard features acts as diverse as Texas, the Kaiser Chiefs, Bastille and Example.
This latest batch of 10 acts – Catfish, Larsson, Clean Bandit, The Vamps, The Strypes, The Amazons, Germein Sisters, Judas, The Novatones and the Second Sons, full list fans – appears to mark a shift towards a younger generation. All have found success, either critical or commercial over the past three years: Larsson and Catfish have been lauded by NME and the BBC respectively, while Clean Bandit’s Jack Patterson was nominated for an Ivor Novello award for their 2014 No1 ‘Rather Be’.
John Giddings, the festival's promoter, said: "We've always supported fresh, new and exciting talent at the at the Isle of Wight Festival. It’s what music festivals are all about. We had Blossoms in 2015 and they've just been nominated for a Brit award!"
"Our fans like having a band that release an album every year, and we're ready for that," Catfish frontman Van McCann told Gigwise last year. "The next one is ready. We'll go round the world once then crack on with that. We're always a year ahead of where we're meant to be. We're ahead of the game, always prepared, always wanted to be a big band and we don't plan on letting that slip."
