Britpop dads the nation over are punching the air following the news that Shed Seven are to release their first new studio album in 16 years.

And if that wasn’t enough, babysitters were also given a boost when the band also revealed their biggest tour ever. Taking place in December, #Shedcember2017 (do you see what they did there?) will call at 15 venues including London’s O2 Brixton Academy and Manchester’s Academy 1 and support comes from Cast, the Gerry & The Pacemakers of the Britpop era (ask your dad).

Speaking of the new album, Shed Seven frontman Rick Witter said via YouTube: “We’ve spent the last two years writing and secretly demoing and have more than an album’s worth of material that we can’t wait to share with you.

“We feel that now is the right time to share these with you. We’re looking forward to ‘#Shedcember2017’ where it will be business as usual; you’ll get to hear all the songs you rightly should expect to hear but this time with a light sprinkling of new music to top it all off.”

Tickets go on sale this 9am Friday, 24 February.

The tour dates are:
