Joining John Cale, The Kooks, Metronomy and many more at Liverpool Sound City 2017 (27 - 28 May) we have The Cribs, The Amazons, Vant and Declan McKenna.
The Cribs will be playing their best album Men’s Needs, Woman’s Needs, Whatever in full. The Amazons will be bringing their incredibly tight energetic rock and proving why they've captured the imagination a lot of purveyors of great rock music.
Havin Declan McKenna join in means the festival is in keeping with its roots as a lunch ad for young, budding talent. Having said that McKenna's practically exploded onto the mainstream already and doesn't have to many corners to turn until he's a considered one of the biggest acts in the UK
Vant have don amazingly well over the past 18 months and have just released their debut album Dumb Blood. They've been an outspoken voice in the recent Trump catastrophe and are gaining a loyal following for their hook-laden garage-punk
Take a magnifying tlasss out and look at the small print, though. The new additons don't stop there. As it was awarded a gong Best Festival for Emerging Talent there's plenty of new smaller bands including the simply wonderful Catholic Action.
John Cale is the main draw of the weekend. The former Velvet Underground multi-instrumentalist will give only one UK performance of The Velvet Underground and Nico before closing the book. It will happen on Friday night the great man himself will be in conversation at Tim Peaks on Saturday with a once in a lifetime talk that will explore the beginnings of his career, his move to the US and relationship with Lou Reed and his musical direction past, present and future.
