With London’s venues consistently under the threat of closure, there’s good news to be had that the team behind popular haunts Old Blue Last and Birthdays have taken over Hackney’s Sebright Arms.
Partnering with Vice, they claim that they’ll “breath new life into the long-established stalwart of the city’s music scene.”
The 150-capacity venue closed for refurbishment earlier this month but it set to re-open on 6 March with a series of special gigs throughout March that will feature Spring King, Ulrika Spacek, Gengahr and Traams among others – as well as a secret headliner on 7 March.
Speaking of the new arrangement, Head Booker Cal McRae said: “We’re beyond excited to be working on Sebright Arms, there’s a real simplicity and authenticity to it all – it’s a straight up boozer with an incredible sounding venue that myself, along with a lot of other people hold in high regard.
“We want to bring Sebright back to it’s original form, filling it with an in house programme consisting of some of the most exciting, up and coming acts as well as established acts in a setting you’d never normally be able to see them in, which is something that we’ve developed a great reputation for doing so over at our other sites”.
“The response from everyone we’ve told so far has been overwhelmingly positive so it’s already been a total pleasure to work on. We can’t wait to properly move in and invite everyone over for a pint.”
Gigs confirmed for March so far are:
6 – Dead Pretties, LICE, and Hotel Lux
7 – Secret Headliner
8 – Ulrika Spacek
10 – Traams
11 – Gengahr
16 – Spring King
