Prince’s former backing band The New Power Generation have been added to the support bill for Phil Collins’ headline show at British Summer Time in London’s Hyde Park on June 30.
Their appearance marks the first time the band has reunited in the UK since Prince’s untimely death in April 2016. The New Power Generation are best known for their work on 1991’s Diamond And Pearls and the Love Symbol Album from the following year. Their headline set on the Barclaycard Stage will see the band performing songs from across Prince’s illustrious career.
Also added to the bill are ‘That’s The Way I Like It’ hitmakers KC And The Sunshine Band as well as those purveyors of rockney, Chas & Dave. The London duo are hosting the Summer Stage where they’ll be performing no less than three sets throughout the day. Well, if you’ve got your own stage then why not?
They’ll all be joining previously announced acts Blondie, Mike + The Mechanics and Starsailor.
Now in its fifth year, Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park 2017 is also set to feature headlining shows from Green Day (July 1), Justin Bieber (July 2), Kings Of Leon (July 6), The Killers (July 8) and Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers (July 9). The full supporting line-ups are yet to be announced but you can rest assured we’ll tell you all about it just as soon as we know.
Previous Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park events have seen headlining sets from The Rolling Stones, Carole King, The Libertines, The Who, Kylie Minogue and Black Sabbath among others.
