Ride have been added to this year’s expanding and increasingly excellent Green Man festival line-up.
The reformed shoegazers, whose new album, Weather Diaries, is set for release on 16 June via Wichita Recordings, will headline the Far Out stage on the Thursday evening of the bucolic festival. Weather Diaries is the band’s first album since the release of their 1996 album, Tarantula, and this will be their first appearance at Green Man.
Green Man’s line-up is fast shaping up to be one of the best of the summer. In addition to headliners PJ Harvey, Ryan Adams and Future Islands will be the psychedelic garage rock of Allah-Las, the lo-fi indie-pop of Spanish quartet Hinds and the late-night hypnotic electro beats of Daniel Avery.
Also on the bill are – deep breath – The Shins, Michael Kiwanuka, Kate Tempest, Sleaford Mods, Thee Oh Sees, Julian Cope, Lambchop, Angel Olson, Lift To Experience, Saint Etienne, Daniel Johnson, Liars and many, many more.
Previous headliners have included The Flaming Lips, Super Furry Animals and St Vincent.
Set in the Brecon Beacons near Crickhowell, Green Man boasts one of the most beautiful locations of any UK festival as well as a superbly chilled atmosphere. Factor in Green Man’s annual beer festival – last year’s event had around 90 Welsh ales and ciders – and some of the best food to be found at a music event and you’re on to a winner. Little wonder they’re celebrating their 15th birthday this year.
Green Man festival runs August 17-20 and tickets are available here.
