Fans of Liam Gallagher have been left divided by the singer's first single with new band Beady Eye.
The track, entitled 'Bring The Light', was made available to download from the group's website this morning (November 10).
Gigwise journalist Holly Frith described the song as “a step away from the heavy guitar anthems of Oasis” and said it “offers a positive look of things to come from the band”.
But Gigwise has been inundated with comments from many music fans who have been less complimentary about the single.
One fan, Lee, said it sounded like “Status Quo jamming with Chas & Dave with Shakin Stevens on vocals.”
He added: “This is slightly above average pub rock at best.”
Another Gigwise user, Ben, said: “Anyone who thinks this is original should listen to The Beatles' 'Back In The USSR'.”
Alex said it was an “inoffensive 60s rehash, just what we'd expect from Liam”.
But another fan, Dave, said he liked the song, describing it as a “fresh” move for the singer.
And Kyle said: “Actually this made me go 'Jerry Lee Lewis' before the Beatles. I think Liam recently said he'd been listening to Lewis. Makes sense.”
'Bring The Light' is taken from the band's as-yet-untitled debut album, which is due out next year.
