Elbow staged a love-in as they played the second of two gigs at London’s O2 Arena last night (March 29).
The Manchester band thrilled fans with a set weighted heavily in favour of their new album, ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’.
Singer Guy Garvey made several references to themes of love and friendship throughout the show, encouraging audience participation.
Before ‘Mirror Ball’, taken from their commercial breakthrough album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’, he asked everybody in the audience who was in love to raise their hands.
He then added: “This is for anybody in the room who is in love with somebody but doesn’t want to tell them.”
After recent single ‘Neat Little Rows’, a female member of the audience proclaimed her love for Garvey, to which he replied: “I’m actually engaged.”
He then turned to his bandmates and said: “Actually I’m not, am I? Well I am now.”
Elbow’s set also included new songs ‘Lippy Kids’, ‘With Love’ and ‘The Birds’, and concluded with the fan favourite, ‘One Day Like This’.
The band's UK and Ireland tour is set to conclude in Dublin later this week. For more details, check out Gigwise Gig Tickets.
