Manic Street Preachers are planning to take a break for a few years before launching a “final surge, bassist Nicky Wire has said.
In an interview with BBC Radio 4's Front Row, Wire said the band would never release another single and that their next incarnation will be “a big reinvention”.
"Something that is more indulgent I guess," he added.
Speaking as to why Manic Street Preachers would never release another single, Wire said they didn't feel part of the digital age.
"I think I'd rather just sell CDs from our studio in Cardiff at the door,” he said. “Just ask people to queue up and hand over a tenner or fiver.
"The kind of virtual anarchy that exists online - it's just not in our DNA. It's not relevant to us and by trying too hard to embrace it, I think demeans you a bit. It's fine for a generation who literally think music is for free."
