The second and final day of the first ever BBC 6 Music Festival was brought to an epic close by the likes of The National, Franz Ferdinand, James Blake, Lykke Li and more yesterday (Saturday 1 February). Check out footage from the festival below.

The National headlined the final night on the main stage, and were undoubtedly the highlight of the entire weekend. We we there, and can vouch that their performance was nothing short of monumental and the atmosphere magnificent.

Performing a career-spanning and jaw-dropping set, The National brought the crowd to life like no other act all weekend - with frontman Matt Berninger up to his usual crowd invasion antics, taking the time to sing the closing verses from the audience and even scale the viewing platform for disabled fans. Performing entirely unplugged, the band united the entire of Manchester's Victoria Warehouse in unified song for a gut-wrenchingly intimate rendition of 'Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks'. It was pretty special.

The National played:
Don't Swallow the Cap
I Should Live in Salt
Mistaken for Strangers
Bloodbuzz Ohio
Sea of Love
Afraid of Everyone
Squalor Victoria
I Need My Girl
This Is the Last Time
Abel
Apartment Story
Pink Rabbits
England
Graceless
Fake Empire
Encore:
Mr. November
Terrible Love
Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks (acoustic)

Taking to the main stage just before The National, Franz Ferdinand followed an impressive raucous set from Jake Bugg, and performed an epic set of classics and fan favourites, partly voted for by 6 Music listeners. As a result, you'd struggle to find a more crowd-pleasing set from a more festival-friendly band. It was just really, really fun. End of.

Over on the second stage, proceedings were brought to an end by the Mercury-winning James Blake, dropping dark-dub cuts from his two critically-acclaimed albums. Before Blake, Wild Beasts entertained by launching their new album, Present Tense, with a marvellous and intimate set.

Other highlights of the day included Lykke Li, who packed out the second room of the Warehouse due to having not performed in the UK in several years. She was incredible, as were Bombay Bicycle Club and PINS.

All in all, that was a really marvellous festival, tailor made to perfection for real music lovers. Well done 6 Music, see you next year.
