The late, great Rik Mayall has crashed into the top 10 hit with his 'lost' World Cup anthem 'Noble England', while Kasabian and Ella Henderson find themselves scoring No.1 hits in the albums and singles chart.

Comedy legend, Young Ones and Bottom star Mayall tragically passed away at the age of 56 - causing fans to launch an online campaign to get his 2010 World Cup track 'Noble England' to No.1. As a result, it has landed the impressive position of No.7 in the charts.

"Football chants are one of the great traditions of following football and Shakespeare is also part of our national heritage," Rik said in 2010. "It seemed only natural that they should go together.” "I’m doing my bit, just like every other Englishman.

"As we stand shoulder-to-shoulder, doing out bit, stiff upper lip – apart from when you’re screaming out the lyrics to Noble England."

It just goes to show what a true hero and good footie song can do when it touches people. Adversely, the thoroughly talentless Pitbull has found his musical abomination 'We Are One' at No.29 after a truly disastrous performance at the opening of the 2014 World Cup last week.

Elsewhere in the singles chart, Ella Henderson finds herself at No.1 with 'Ghost', Ed Sheeran slips to No.2 with 'Sing', Tiesto is at No.3 with 'Wasted', Sam Smith comes in at No.4 with 'Stay With Me' and Mr Probz completes the top five with 'Waves'.

Meanwhile, Kasabian have scored their fourth No.1 album, after shifting 70,000 copies of 48:13, reports the Official Charts Company.

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno said: "What a way to kick off the biggest three weeks of our lives: achieving our fourth consecutive Number 1 album, followed by a 50,000-strong crowd at our Leicester homecoming gig and the pinnacle - headlining Glastonbury!"

Coldplay stay at No.2 with Ghost Stories, Sam Smith slides to No.3 with In The Lonely Hour, Jack White enters at No.4 with second solo LP Lazaretto and Passenger rise to No.5 with Whispers.
