American audiences don't do so well with subtitles, and there's nothing US TV and film studios love more than remaking European hits with a more understandable language option. Next for an American rework is French supernatural drama, The Returned, which will also get a new soundtrack from Nicolas Jaar.
The original TV series, which screened in the UK in 2013, was scored by Mogwai, who won acclaim and huge praise for their atmospheric and haunting score to the supernatural show. However, as US channel A&E gear up to overhaul the show, experimental electronic artists Nicholas Jaar has been drafted in to score the show.

The show will be produced by Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel) and Raelle Tucker (True Blood) who will also write a number of episodes of the show. The French original was a heartbreaking exploration of death, tragedy, loss and family, based on a number of deceased individuals returning to their village years after death with no explanation to their return, but with hopes of resuming their former lives.
Sadly, the US version is being widely reported as a 'zombie TV series'.
