Dr Dre has announced the release details of a new biopic movie about his seminal hip-hop group, NWA.
Straight Outta Compton will tell the story of Dr Dre, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, MC Ren and the late Eazy E. Dre took to Twitter to announce that the movie would be release on 15 August, 2015.
Dr Dre and Eazy E will be played by newcomer actors Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell, while Ice Cube's son will take on the role of his father.
The film is named after their highly influential debut album and single of the same name - a record that saw them rise to the status as one of the most important and pioneering rap groups of all time.
Off the back of singles such as 'Express Yourself' and 'Gangsta', the band's highly controversial lyrics about life on the streets and gang culture saw them banned on many US radio stations.
The group were active from 1986 - 1981 before each member went on to become huge solo stars, producers and record label owners in their own right.
