Former BBC Radio One DJ Chris Denning has pleaded guilty to a string of shocking sex offences - some on children as young as nine-years-old.
The 73-year-old from Basildon in Essex confessed to 29 charges on young boys aged between nine and 16-years-old when he appeared in Southwark Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 5 August, 2014).
He also pleaded not guilty to 12 other charges and is due to stand trial for those alleged offences on 24 November, reports the BBC.
The offences that he pleaded guilty to are said to have taken place while he was under the employment of the BBC between 1967 and 1984. He was not a major household name, but was a member of the original Radio One line-up when it launched in 1967.
Arrested as part of operation Yewtree, set up in the wake of the Jimmy Saville sex scandal, Denning has been remanded in custody until trial, which he has been told could last up to two weeks.
