Slipknot's frontman Corey Taylor has spoken about the death of bassist Paul Gray saying the band were "knocked senseless" from the loss.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, Taylor also said that drummer Joey Jordison leaving the band last year was a "heavy" one.
In regards to losing Jordison and the death of Paul Gray in 2010 affected the band's new album, Taylor said "It's been a weird time for this band. There's a lot about Paul. There's a lot about ourselves.
"It's us basically reconvening. We can either die under the weight of life, or… come back and be the Slipknot we know we can be."
Taylor continue: "We were just knocked senseless by the loss of Paul, and then coming to terms with the fact that we had to make a really heavy decision about parting ways with Joe."

In regards to the new Slipknot album and how determined the band have been to deliver it despite losing members, Taylor said: "Even if it gets chaotic and dark, people still understand we are a band with a mission… that has a very strong message of positivity in the end."
Slipknot have hinted at an October release for their new album and released the first track from the record titled 'The Negative One'. Taylor stated in an interview with Radio 1 that “The Negative One isn’t our single. That was just a gift for the fans," he added "The single comes out in a few weeks and it’s completely different. The music is very complex, and it’s really good. I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
