Jake Bugg has attacked chart music, saying it focus only on "one-night stands, holding your glass up and twerking."

He told the Sunday Times: ''Manufactured pop bands, they don't have any heart, they don't have any soul... It's really sad for me, when you work hard at what you do with your guitar, and then you pop the radio on and it's like some weird trumping sound coming out of it."

He went on to explain that rather than being a prejudice against pop, it's the lyrical content that he doesn't approve of. "I want to like contemporary music. It's not my fault that it doesn't sound very good.... All the lyrics are about one-night stands, holding your glass up and twerking and stuff like that. I know I might sound like a dad, but it's frustrating to hear people my age going on about stuff like that when, personally, I think there are more important things in the world.''

Speaking to the Krissi Murison on a variety of topics - including a difficult family relationship, why he doesn't date fans and not smoking weed as much as you might expect - Bugg also complains about playing home town gigs. "The suppport is amazing, but after the show there are so many people wanting a photograph or for me to sign something. When I speak to people it drains my battery a lot, it can be quite overwhelming at times. And it's like 'Oh this is your third cousin, once detached.

"And I'm like 'Why haven't I met them before? It's funny that they're here now isn't it? Where was he the last 18 years? But again you can't go around saying these things, you just have to keep them to yourself."
