After a five year hiatus, the criminally underrated Idlewild have announced their return - promising a 'big announcement' in November.
The band, whose last release was the rich and accomplished Post Electric Blues in 2009, have been posting images of progress in the studio recently - and now tell fans to expect huge news on Steve Lamacq's BBC 6 Music show on 3 November.
The band's current line up consists of founding members Rod Jones on guitar, frontman Roddy Woomble, and drummer Colin Newton, with new members Luciano Rossi on keys and bassist Andrew Mitchell.
One of Scotland's most respected bands, giving rise to the likes of Frightened Rabbit and Twilight Sad, Idlewild are an acclaimed and award-winning band, releasing six studio albums. They won over a cult fanbase with their high-energy live shows before finding mainstream success with 2002's The Remote Part. Their latter days saw them lean towards the folkier side and support the likes of REM, Pearl Jam and U2.
Roddy Woomble and Rod Jones have largely spent the last five years busying themselves with solo and side-projects.
