Fresh from her appearance on screen in biker drama Sons Of Anarchy, Courtney Love is now set to appear in an experimental opera.

As the New York Times reports, Love has been cast as the star in director Todd Almond's 'Kansas City Choir Boy' which will premiere at New York's Prototype Festival in January. The performance is described as "a theatricalized concept album about explosive young love tested by cruel fate, told in a series of mysterious flashbacks."

Almond said he's always been "fascinated" with Love's voice and "thought she would find the character interesting",

Speaking to the Times, Love explained her love of Almond's music: “I’m playing it constantly. I’m looking to do things that are different. I just finished a rock tour of Australia, and it was great, but I’ve been doing that for along time. I wanted to do something challenging.”

Almond explained that the opera: “It became a piece about a man and a woman in love in the Midwest, but then the woman sees something on the horizon that makes her realize that she has a greater destiny, and she follows that.” He also said rather than being an opera in the strictest sense, 'Kansas City Choir Boy' it is in fact "in an operatic style".

All this means presumably is that Courtney Love's memoir is probably not coming out any time soon - and the Hole reunion is probably on hold as well.
