Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has announced plans that he may finally be releasing a solo album - and he may also be going 'country'.

As Ultimate Classic Rock reports, during a recent Q&A session at Twitter's headquarters, the Aerosmith frontman revealed that new tracks could see him experimenting with country music. "I'm going down to Nashville in January, February, March, April to write and see what we get," Tyler said. "Doing an album is like panning for gold. You get so much sand and dirt until you find a little nugget - and you work on the nugget."

Tyler later added "I grew up with the Everly Brothers and there's a piece of me that just loves country so much. I'm not sure what kind of country that is, but it's got the fifth harmony. Anyone who knows the Everly Brothers - it's those kinds of melodies that are just so good."

Other questions gave more varied responses including why he wouldn't remake any old Aerosmith videos with CGI ("I don't know if I'd fix any of 'em"), why he bought a house in Maui (he first visited in '76 and felt he belonged there) and how he didn't have feathers in his hair for American Idol. What comes across most is how charming Tyler is, particularly when delivering lines like "I live on the tail of a comet anyway". Our highlight? Seeing him give the alternative titles to Aerosmith songs, such as "Don't Want To Kiss Your Thing and 'Pickin Out a Wedge'.

This summer Aerosmith headlined both Calling and Download. Recently Joe Perry has revealed that Aerosmith may never make another album again, as their contract with Sony has come to an end. The band released their latest album, Music From Another Dimension!, in 2012, which performed disappointingly in the charts. It was the band's first collection of original songs in over a decade, but none of its four singles reached the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
