Trent Reznor has hit out at the Grammy Awards, calling them "bullshit", while simultaneously praising the Oscars.
The Nine Inch Nails front man is one of the few lucky people to be honoured by both awards ceremonies. He recieved an Oscar nod for his superb work on The Girl With The Tattoo soundtrack with Atticus Ross and has also won two Grammy awards throughout his career.
“Having won a couple Grammys for stupid shit — best metal performance — it’s hard to feel good about the integrity of that,” Reznor told The Hollywood Reporter. “If that’s how much you’re paying attention to what you’re giving out, why should I think that really means anything? When the Oscar [nomination] came up, it felt very different. I can’t tell if that’s because I’m older or it felt like it’s coming from a more sincere pedigree. … And particularly in a field we’d just gotten into, to see that, “Hey, you think [we] deserve this?” It felt nice.”
It seems that Reznor may still be slightly angry about the Grammy Awards cutting off his performance from last year. Following the performance with Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and Lindsey Buckingham he refferred to the process as "an utter waste of time".
Reznor's most recent film work includes Gone Girl, which he scored for David Funcher. Alongside his film work, this year saw Nine Inch Nails play a host of rare live shows, including a lenghty US tour which came to an end last month.
