Rick Rosas, the long term bassist for Neil Young, has died aged 65 according to a statement on Thrasher's Wheat. His cause of death is as yet unknown.
The legendary bassist, known as "Rick The Bass Player" was a long-time collaborator of Neil Young, recording and touring with him for more than a quarter of a century and appearing on six albums.
Rosas also served as bassist for Crosby Stills Nash & Young’s final tour in 2006 as well as Buffalo Springfield’s reunion tour, not to mention working with Jerry Lee Lewis, Etta James, Ron Wood and Ron Wood. He had recently filled in as Crazy Horse's bassist on their 2014 European summer tour with Neil Young, after Billy Talbot suffered a stroke.
Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina posted the following message on Facebook last night:
"This I truly hate to say...another brother, friend, gentleman...has passed...R.I.P Rick Rosas...God bless and keep you my brother"
