The legendary Roadhouse venue in Manchester has announced that they'll be closing their doors for good this May
The local landmark, gig venue and good-time boozer was a favourite among music lovers - with Elbow famously playing their first ever gig there after members of the band worked behind the bar. The band lovingly referred to the Roadhouse as 'the office', as it was where they spent most of their time.
It also played host to the formative shows of many other great local acts - as well as early gigs by the likes of Coldplay, Muse, Fleet Foxes, The Kills and The White Stripes.
But now, the venue is saying goodbye to the exquisite Manchester music scene.
"Right folks, unfortunately the sad news is true," said the venue on Facebook. "The Roadhouse closes it's doors for the final time on May 31 2015.
"We've had an immense time here for the last two decades and are incredibly proud of the legacy we'll leave behind and the vibrancy we have brought to the Manchester music scene over the years. Nothing lasts forever and we are determined to see out these final months with the same verve with which we began."
They added: "This news is obviously delivered with a heavy heart but really, let's make this final run another unforgettable chapter of an historic venue. Basically, come and party with us harder than we ever have before!"
To see the venue out in style, The Roadhouse are planning a string of special gigs for their final month.
Meanwhile, Elbow have been confirmed to headline Kendal Calling and On Blackheath this summer. See below for ticket details.
